Who we are:
Talking in Circles is a diverse group of approximately twenty men and women representing a vast variety of professionals in specialties such as international health, international development, philanthropy, organizational business consulting, and information security consulting. Members of our club come from many countries of the world, thereby providing an international flavor to our meetings which is reflected in presentations such as speeches and table topics. Our diversity provides valuable opportunities to learn different perspectives on many topics.
Our club was charted in 2005 and has a membership with a variety of Toastmasters qualifications. Approximately 50% of the membership are currently working toward completing the Competent Communicator Manual. The remaining members have acquired their Competent Communicator qualifications and are continuing to achieve higher levels of competency.
Our goals:
By continuing to increase our membership we hope to grow not only the size of our club, but also our members personal growth through sharing experiences and perspectives among a diverse group. Our long range membership goal is to have between 30 35 members which we believe will enhance our regular meetings.
In 2007, our club achieved Presidents Distinguished Club status. Our goal is to acquire this status in 2008. We believe this goal is realistic given the dedication and enthusiasm of our members who regularly display a commitment to performing their best and using their skills to enhance our programs.
Interaction outside of the local club provides valuable learning experiences not to mention networking opportunities. Therefore, Talking in Circles is striving for increased participation in local and regional contests during the coming year. Additionally, we plan to establish a routine that encourages our members to participate at other club meetings located in the downtown Washington, D.C. area as speakers and evaluators.
